Instant Gratification

Hello All!

Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog. I have entitled my first posting, "Instant Gratification." Why you ask? Well, let's be honest with ourselves, we all want instant gratification. When I buy a new wrinkle cream, I expect to see results the next morning. Or when I go to the gym for the first time after an extended hiatus (by extended I mean at least six months....most likely more) I want to see a six pack and a firmer butt when I leave the gym.

Is this too much to ask for? I think not!

The reason the topic of instant gratification came about is because my fiancee, Jeremy, and I have been working on a wedding present for my best friend and her husband for almost 4 months now.....did you notice I said husband and not fiancee.....yea, they have been married for over a month now and we STILL ARE NOT done!

When I came up with the idea for the wedding gift (which will be revealed once we finally finish the gift), I thought it would be a nice weekend project. I couldn't just buy them something from a registry, this is my best friend since 2nd grade, I had to do more! So I came up with the idea of something we could hand craft that they would be able to have for many years and possibly even pass down to future generations.

As I mentioned, our weekend project is now going on 4 months. I had no idea the amount of time and detail that would go into this. There have been many a day where extreme power tools and lots of measuring were involved and let's just say it was much safer for me to read Perezhilton.com than to work on any of this. I have a new found respect for craftsmanship and the patience it takes to complete a project. I might have all the patience in the world with children and animals, but when it comes to projects and results, I would prefer if the results were instant......obviously that will never happen.

I look forward to sharing photos of our finished project. I am so proud of what we have done and how everything looks. I guess there is a reason the saying, "Good things come to those who wait," exists.....Looks like I will be going to the gym again in the morning :o) Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog!! Talk to you soon!

xoxo
